Suzanne is one of a handful of podiatrists in the UK and one of two in Northern Ireland to obtain a post graduate qualification from the William Harvey Research Institute at Queen Mary University, London in Podiatric Sports Medicine. This qualification was based on the philosophy that total care for the athlete requires a multi-disciplinary approach underpinned by evidence-based medicine; a philosophy which Suzanne passionately believes in and endeavors to work closely alongside consultants, physiotherapists, strength and conditioning coaches and soft tissue therapists.
Suzanne has worked in private practice over the last 5 years, working with a range of clients from elite athletes to recreational runners. She has a passion for helping people and educating people on podiatric sports medicine and enjoys speaking publicly on topics related to podiatric sports medicine and its growing role within the sporting environment. She currently works full time between Active Health Solutions and Crusaders Football Club.
Her further training has enabled her to gain experience in diagnostic ultrasound of the foot and ankle which she uses routinely during clinical examination, guided injection therapy, shockwave therapy, rehabilitation, gait/running analysis and foot orthoses. In June 2016 she attended a function running assessment and gait re-training workshop at Pure Sports Medicine, Canary Wharf, along with other coaches and health professionals from the running industry.
Suzanne has particular interest in football medicine and during her post graduate training had the opportunity to spend time at Chelsea Football Club learning the ethos and injury management strategies adopted by their sports medicine team. She has been part of the medical team at Crusaders Football Club since 2015 providing sports massage and podiatric sports medicine services to players.
